More efficiency, more savings

Trane matched systems are designed to give you the best performance from your heating and cooling dollars. A high-efficiency Trane matched system calls on fewer resources when in use, so you save more energy. With lower energy cost, a more efficient system is a wiser choice in the long term.

Higher SEER ratings

In January 2006, the Department of Energy increased the minimum SEER from 10 to 13. SEER (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio) indicates the efficiencies of different types of equipment. The majority of systems installed before 1992 are 10 SEER or below and will continue to drop in efficiency as the systems age. Not only do Trane systems meet the government standard; in many cases, they exceed it. The chart below shows you the possible savings over an 8 SEER system when you install higher efficiency Trane matched systems.

What size system is the most efficient?

Another vital step toward maximizing the efficiency of your Trane matched system for your home is to have your independent Trane dealer conduct a load calculation. Most homes today are heated and cooled by units that are too big for the home—others are too small. When an air conditioner or heat pump system is not the proper size (capacity) for a home, an array of problems can result. Temperatures might be uneven. Units might not run long enough to properly control humidity. You may have more maintenance problems over time. And the money you think you might be saving may be reduced, because with units that are too big, you're essentially paying to heat or cool space that isn't there.

Along with a proper load calculation from your independent Trane dealer—who accurately calculates the right size system for your home—we design all our products in a variety of sizes to make sure that each one works as intended.

Look for the ENERGY STAR™ label

Many of Trane's high-efficiency products meet the ENERGY STAR guidelines for energy efficiency. ENERGY STAR is a voluntary awareness, communications and marketing campaign developed by the U.S. Department of Energy and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in 1992 to promote energy efficiency. Trane has partnered with the EPA to label our high-efficiency systems with the ENERGY STAR logo so homeowners can easily identify those higher-efficiency products that can help reduce pollution problems.

Which Trane residential products qualify?

Remember that the higher the efficiency rating, the greater the energy savings. All Trane split system air conditioner and heat pump units with a SEER (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio) of 14 or above, HSPF (Heating Seasonal Performance Factor) of 8.0 or above, and all Trane gas furnaces with an AFUE (Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency) of 90% or above meet or exceed the minimum efficiency required by the EPA for ENERGY STAR recognition.

Trane helps you identify higher-efficiency products with an ENERGY STAR logo on the front of the product.

How will homeowners benefit?

Choosing a Trane ENERGY STAR Comfort System assures homeowners of lower energy consumption, improved indoor air quality, attractive design appearance and, most importantly, improved comfort for your home.
